Game in 60 w/time delay at 9:30AM, 11:30AM, 1:30PM, and 5:00PM (there is lunch break 3:30PM to 5:00PM). Entry fee $50.00. USCF Rules in effect except: All games are paired randomly among those in your score group (you can play the same opponent more than once), all games are "Draw for Color." Prizes per number of entries: Prize to winner of each game (split if drawn). Prize to winner of each quartile in final standings.
EXAMPLE: 20 entries, $800 prizes: Winner of each game gets $16, winner of each of the 4 quartiles 1st, 6th, 11th, and 16th places) gets $40. Ties will be broken for prize distribution, and we will use 1st Modified Median, then 2nd Solkoff, then 3rd Cumulative, then 4th Cumulative scores of opposition. Mendon Ponds Park, East Lodge Wednesday, July 8, 2009. Directions: Go South on Clover Street, cross the Thruway, enter the park (turn left) at the first entrance, the lodge is 1/2 mile on the left. Fires will be stoked at 5:30PM although the lodge is ours from 1:OOPM on ... rain or shine, the lodge will be fine! We'll provide the Chess Sets, soft drinks, and charcoal. You bring your own food to grill, plates, silverware, and sports equipment. This will be a communal event, so please bring a dish to share. Last name A to M please bring a salad to pass. Last name N to Z please bring a desert to share. Of course, if you have that very special picnic goodie you always make, please bring that along instead. Everyone is welcome, $2 per person .... $5 max per family. Picnic is free to Chess Center members and their families.

Jim Clague, long time TD and avid chessplayer, has been transported to Strong Memorial Hospital by CCCR President Don Stubblebine for diabetes-related complications. Our thoughts and wishes for a speedy recovery go out to Mr. Clague.
[Oct. 4, 2008 Matt Parry Vietnam Tournament] Show your support for Matt's upcoming trip representing the USA at the World Junior Chess Championship in Vung Tau, Vietnam. Three round Swiss System (2pm, 4pm, 6pm) G/60. Special Entry Fee $20.00, $10 donated to the Parry family, $10 to prizes. Your last chance to see Matt before he leaves for Vietnam for two weeks. Pizza and snacks provided, but bring a dish to share, if possible. Update: Matt won the tournament, the cash prize and got $200.00 to help defray costs of the trip. Congrats, Matt! We all hope you do well in the World Junior Chess Championship! Update 10/24/2008: At the event midpoint, Matt is doing well, winning when expected to, and losing games to much higher rated titled players, GM/IM/FM.
